If you've read my book, thank you and please post an honest review.
Walking In Mud wasn't written to get rich, famous or anything of the like.
It was written to share stories that might help others with what they might be dealing with today, not necessarily the pandemic, but everyday things such as suicide, personal challenges, work, followership & leadership.
The Ten Essential Qualities of an Underwater Demolition Man are what I call "Adult rules for living". Rules that we learned as children and have forgotten as adults. If your curious, you can also search for other "rules" but at the end of the day they all speak to being a good, decent human on this place we call Earth.
I used my personal experiences and others to showcase these qualities.

~ In the times we are in, it just seems like confusion is the norm.
Steve Giblin shares such concrete wisdom, strength and grit for these times for others to inspired by. As a mother of 4 men, my first thought was how much I would want our sons to read this book for more guidance in today’s world.
Steven is clear and systematic, along with sharing personal stories and examples to bring such a clear picture of what strength, grit and wisdom looks like today and always. Thank you for being part of the solution, Steven
~ "Walking in Mud by Steve Giblin is a powerful and inspiring book that offers valuable insights into the challenges of life and how to overcome them. Giblin, a retired Navy SEAL, draws on his own experiences to share ten principles that he believes can help people cope with adversity.
The principles in Walking in Mud are simple but powerful. They include:
-Be prepared. Don't wait for the storm to hit before you start getting ready.
-Be adaptable. Be willing to change your plans and adapt to new circumstances.
-Be resilient. Don't give up when things get tough.
-Be humble. Don't think you're better than anyone else.
-Be grateful. Appreciate the good things in your life, even when things are tough.
These principles are not just for Navy SEALs or other high-pressure professionals. They are for anyone who is facing challenges in their life. Whether you are struggling with a job loss, a health crisis, or a relationship problem, the principles in Walking in Mud can help you find the strength and resilience to overcome your challenges.
Giblin's story is a powerful reminder that even in the midst of the most difficult challenges, there is always hope. I highly recommend Walking in Mud to anyone who is facing challenges in their life. It is a powerful and inspiring book that can help you find the strength and resilience to overcome your challenges."
~“Walking in Mud,” by Steve Giblin and Jon Land, really provides a great perspective on what we are dealing with in today’s trying times. I would describe this book as a self-awareness guide that is relatable on many different levels. Whether you’re an elite Navy Seal Operator or just an average everyday Joe, ALL of us have a breaking point. The first thing is recognizing that point, which is always easier said than done. The second, and most important point, is to ACTIVELY listen to your respective support system, as they are in a much better position to recognize changes in your daily behavior. The Ten Essential Qualities of an Underwater Demolition Man provides you with attributes that you can always fall back on and help “level set” any situation you may be facing; control only what you can control and respond accordingly. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to better understand themselves and wants to develop strategies to navigate life.
~What Steve Giblin offers in this book are the learnings he had in life and, obviously, in the Teams; things that can immediately be applied to the lives of "normal" people. The author is candid and fully transparent about his successes, but more importantly, about his failures and what he learned from those. Coming from someone who reached the Tier One level of Special Operations (a select group among ALL Special Operations), this says a lot.
~I really enjoyed this book. Great perspective of how to apply what the author learned in the teams and how to apply it to life now. I really enjoyed the stories of training and perseverance. Easy read, and thought provoking!
This well articulated perspective gives the reader insight into how reactions or feelings toward everyday civilian life could draw on past experiences, whether that be simple conversations or complex events. Teamwork is the key to survive this new reality.
~One of the best books I’ve ever read. Important to living in post pandemic.
Responsibility, leadership, sincerity, forethought. Awesome book. Thanks Steve!
~"Waking In Mud" it's a great way to take a moment out of the chaotic world we live in to shift our perspectives. Giving food for thought with interesting real life stories about our troops who serve and protect us. Followed with wonderfully helpful tips to navigate in everyday life.
~Timeless advice from a seasoned warrior to encourage us all to be a team in life together again! Thank you for providing those compass headings that lead us forward in a New Normal. By your honesty and examples you allow us to know that the truth will truly set us free. Keep leading the charge Steve!
~Walking in Mud is a fantastic, inspirational read that truly does help us to understand the challenges that we face in our post-pandemic world, and offers some solid practices on how to navigate our new normal. In every chapter Steve Giblin shares an insightful truth from "The Ten Essential Qualities of an Underwater Demolition Man" document that he discovered while in the Navy SEALS, and combines his own SEAL experiences with those truths to inspire us to live impactful, connected lives in the challenging times in which we find ourselves. The book really moved me to take stock of my own life and recognize the importance of supporting all those in my life as we travel this post-COVID world together.
~I think the book is great, it reads like you're sitting down with a friend having a personal in-depth conversation. I also liked the Frogman Rules at the end. It is definitely a book that will be reread and applied to day-to-day life. Thanks again for writing this and helping all of us walking (sometimes stuck) in mud!!
